My 2016 World Series Prediction

The time for talk is over.  The 2016 World Series begins tonight in chilly Cleveland, Ohio (predicted thmp 49 degrees/feels like 45 degrees) as the Cleveland Indians host the Chicago Cubs in game 1 by virtue of the sham that is the All-Star Game winner gets home-field advantage in the World Series (for the record, I do not agree with this).

By now you should know the back stories to this Fall Classic: the Cubs haven’t won the WS since 1908 and the Indians haven’t won since 1948, the bullpens feature 2 former members of the Yankees’ No Run DMC ‘pen: Andrew Miller and Aroldis Chapman, Kyle Schwarber is on the Cubs roster, Charlie Sheen won’t be reprising Ricky “Wild Thing” Vaughn and will Trevor Bauer’s finger be healed adequately to allow him to pitch among others.

I will say this about this year’s Post Season: I would not want to be a manager as the national media, especially on MLB Network Radio are skewering any and all managerial decisions.  It’s bad to not think outside of the box by using your bullpen in a traditional manner (Buck Showalter) and it’s just as bad to think outside the box in forming your lineup (Joe Maddon).  No matter the outcome of this series, either Terry Francona or Joe Maddon will be raked over the coals for a “questionable” decision during the series.

In the end we have the team with the best record this year in the Cubs against the team that most “experts” didn’t expect to be here.  The Cubs are a team of young, very good stars (and the two-faced Dexter Fowler) led by MLB’s version of Phil “Zen Master” Jackson in manager Joe Maddon while the Indians are a team that can make any game a game of just six innings led by Terry Francona, who in my opinion, is underrated as a MLB manager.

History will be made one way or the other in this World Series and it will be fun to watch!

My prediction: The Cubs will win in 6 games  ✔️ and Kris Bryant will win the MVP award  ❌ and become the new face of the MLB

The Cubs won the World Series in 7 games.  Ben Zobrist was named Series MVP.

Overcoming a 3 games to 1 deficit, the Cubs won an epic game 7 on Wednesday night 8-7 in 10 innings.  Aroldis Chapman got the win in relief ending the 108 year wait for Chicago.
