6/11/1983: On This Day In Baltimore Orioles’ History #35thAnniversary

On this day in 1983 the Baltimore Orioles won their sixth game in a row by beating the Boston Red Sox by a score of 10-6.

Scott McGregor won his 8th game of the season with a line of 5.0 IP, 9 H, 2 Runs (earned) and 2 strike outs.  He also surrendered a 4th inning homerun to Reid Nichols.

It was the 3, 4 and 5 hitters, Cal Ripken, Jr, Eddie Murray and Gary Roenicke who did the most damage for the Birds.

Ripken was 2 for 5 with a double, 2 runs scored and 1 RBI.  Murray was 2 for 5 with 3 runs scored while Roenicke was 2 for 4 with a double, 2 runs scored and 2 RBI.  Additionally, in a pinch hit role, John Lowenstein was 2 for 2 with 3 RBI.

Bob Ojeda took the loss for the Red Sox by giving up 5 runs on 7 hits over 5.1 innings of work.
