On this day in 1983, the Baltimore Orioles returned to Memorial Stadium and beat the Toronto Blue Jays by a score of 3-2.

Tippy Martinez got the win in relief of starter, Dennis Martinez, who gave up 2 earned runs on 9 hits over 7.0 innings of work.  Additionally, Dennis struck out 7 and walked 3.  Tippy pitched 2 innings of scoreless, 1-hit relief while walking 1 and striking out 1.

John Shelby’s 9th inning pinch-hit walk with the bases loaded scored Rick Dempsey and won the game for the Birds.

Garth Iorg and Willie Upshaw both went 2 for 4 for the Blue Jays.  Joey McLaughlin took the loss in relief for Toronto.
