On this day in 1983, Baltimore Orioles southpaw Mike Flanagan threw a complete game shutout against the Seattle Mariners.  The final score was 1-0.

Flanagan recorder his 6th win with no losses by scattering 7 hits among the Mariners’ lineup, walking none and striking out 1.

Cal Ripken, Jr’s double off of Gaylord Perry in the home half of the 5th inning plated Jim Dwyer, who had entered the game as a pinch runner for Dan Ford.  Ford also doubled in the game.

The Orioles’ defense turned two double plays behind Flanagan.
