On This Day In Baltimore Orioles History: 5/7/1983 #35thAnniversary


Mike Flanagan won his fifth game of the season without a loss on this day in 1983.  The Baltimore Orioles defeated the Oakland Athletics by a score of 8-6 at Memorial Stadium.

Flanagan gave up 5 runs (3 earned) on 10 hits over 5.2 innings pitched while walking 2 and striking out 4 in earning his 5th win of the season.

Eddie Murray (2 for 3, 1 2B, 2 Runs) and Ken Singleton (2 for 3, 2 Runs, 3 RBI, HR) led the offense along with John Shelby who went 3 for 3 with a double, 1 run scored and 1 RBI in a pinch hit role.

Rickey Henderson went 3 for 5 with a double, RBI and stolen base for the A’s.

Tippy Martinez earned his third save of the season with 2.1 innings of scoreless relief.
