The Baltimore Orioles traveled to the west coast on this day in 1983 and played their second extra-inning game in a row.  The Orioles lost to the California Angels 6-5 in 11 innings.

Don Welchel lasted just 0.1 innings and took the loss (0-2).  He surrendered 2 hits and walked 2 in his brief stint.

Mike Flanagan started for the Orioles and gave up 3 earned runs in 5.0 innings of work.

Dan Ford went 2 for 5 with a triple and a run scored and John Lowenstein went 2 for 4 with a run scored, a homerun and 2 RBI to lead the Birds.

Rod Carew had a 5 for 7 day with a double, a run scored and 3 RBI to star for the Angels.  Luis Sanchez got the win in relief for the Halos.
