The Baltimore Orioles defeated the Texas Rangers by a score of 3-2 on this day in 1983.  The game lasted 14 innings and ended with John Shelby scoring the winning run with 2 out in the bottom of the 14th.

Shelby was 3 for 6 with 2 runs scored on the game.

Jim Palmer lasted 8 innings (8.0 IP, 5 H, 2 R (0 ER), 1 K) for the Orioles and was saved by 6 scoreless innings from the bullpen.  Tim Stoddard got the win with 2.0 innings of work in which he struck out 4 Rangers’ batters; it was Stoddard’s first win of the season.

Benny Ayala was 2 for 3 with a run, RBI and homerun on the day.

Odell Jones took the loss for the Rangers.

Season Record: 8-5
