The 2016 NLDS begins tomorrow evening. The Los Angeles Dodgers face the Washington Nationals (5:30 pm ET) and the San Francisco Giants face the Chicago Cubs (9:00 pm ET). We all know the story lines: this is an even year, the Cubs haven’t won a World Series since 1908 and breaking the Curse of the Billy Goat.
The Wild Card winning Giants face a Cubs team that won 103 games this season. Managed by Joe Maddon, the Cubs steamrolled through the 2016 season and feature young stars such as Anthony Rizzo, Kris Bryant and Addison Russell. Sporting a solid rotation and strong bullpen, The Cubs should have no problem with the Giants.

The Los Angeles Dodgers (4th straight postseason appearance) face the Washington Nationals (3rd postseason appearance in 5 years) in the other NLDS. Both teams won their division; the Dodgers lost 3 straight to end their season, the Nationals won their last two. Each team was rejuvenated under their first-year managers, Dave Roberts (LA) and Dusty Baker (Wash). The battle of the aces, Kershaw vs Scherzer, should be a good one. Overall, Dave Roberts has the Dodgers playing very good baseball and I see them having no problem getting past the Nationals.
